Week 10

Week 10 starts off with more wind and a big thunderstorm. Scince Mark and Laurie Dams are staying for multiple weeks, they were the only ones out battling the waves this afternoon. They had a great day. Here is a quick recap of the walleyes they caught: 5 under 18, 19, 21, 21, 24, 25, 25, and 28!

Some of Josie's recent art work.

Josie loves to color and draw. She is getting quite good at it. Below is a small sample of how our cabin is decorated. Not bad for a 5 yr old.

More WIND!!

We have had our share of windy days this season. Today fishermen had to deal with straight west winds gusting 20 mph. Needless to say, the big lake is rolling!

With the strong winds blowing, it was a great
day to stay in and have a tasty shore lunch.

John and Dan decided to battle the winds
and got rewarded for their efforts!!

Trail cam photos

Well, since fishing has been up and down lately, I thought I would put up some "bear candy" for our hunters. The pics below were taken yesterday at a site we know as Fish Guts. It is only 1.5 miles from camp. We have had may bear sightings already this season. A couple of the bears are well over 300 lbs. We have even had some bear visitors in camp this week. I believe the 2nd pic is the bear that has been snooping around camp. He has been given the name "bacon" because he has shown up two different mornings when Jillian was making bacon and eggs. He has done no damage and has quickly left camp once he was spotted by us or the dogs. There has been a lot more whistling and singing on the way to the outhouse though :)

Waiting on pics...

There are only 4 small groups in camp this wee, 14 guests. They are catching fish, however. There have been some nice 'cheezer' sized walleyes caught in the bay as well as some bigger ones coming from the bays on Big Red. I am just waiting for the guys to bring me the pics. I know there has been a bunch of walleyes over 23 inches with the biggest of the week at 27 inches. The biggest pike so far is 38+ inches. I believe there has also been one lake trout caught. With the good number of small walleyes being caught, the gang decided to have cheezers for dinner last night. YUM! The weather is forecasted to be quite nice for the next few days, so I expect the fishing to get even better. Stay tuned for pictures later today.

Yet another big walleye.

Also, keep searching for those camp record fish. I have not had anyone come forward with 30+ inch walleyes yet. I did get some new pike and laker entries though. I also found an old picture of another 42 inch lake trout that weighed in at 36 lbs.
